We need to take care of the environment. Just look at the plastic rivers in Indonesia, the plastic soup in the ocean. But it is said that the government should solve this. But if we look at who will solve the problems than it is clear that this will come from the market. Governments simply fail to do so. Socialistic governments are especially failing in this.
When innovations become available and the government said the price, it simply decides who is a winner or a looser. Based upon the requests of pressure groups and short term political agendas.
Then we come to power. Power corrupts and absolute power absolute corrupt. When companies are under political control you just see the board full of people who lack the knowledge to do the job properly. Resulting in less innovation and more environmental impact.
Still, are we seeing the pressure to have more government intervention? But government-owned companies are big polluters and no one would go after them. Who would take it up against the government?
What will happen is that the goal is the protection of interests. No environmental protection.
If you look at the below chart you see the subsidies on energy.
Of course, it is easy to critic public traded companies. Or to use the environment to raise taxes.
Think about it for a moment. since when are governments supporting innovation? Innovation that disrupts society? The government never supports this. They are then losing power.
There are quite some environmental activists that know this. So why are they attacking companies?
Well, they are not really taking care of the environment. They care about ending capitalism. Just so they can be in power.
